How to Get Positive Results on Twitter by Being Authentic

Yeah, I know I know, you have this look on your face saying, “here is another self-styled guru, telling me to be authentic, yet once again, especially when taken in the context of Twitter and social media.” But one has to admit that the self-styled gurus have something here. And that is what you are going to know, the moment you finish this article. Apart from that, you are going to know exactly how you can achieve this particular authenticity without looking like a grade A hypocrite and phony.

Now let us take this particular word authenticity, so the dictionary says that it means genuineness and accuracy. But according to me, it means you being just your suffer nobody else. The idea is that if anybody who you meet online meets you in real life, he does not go back disappointed thinking, “I quite expected something else. Man, what an unreal picture this guy gave of himself, online.” That is exactly what the gurus mean when they talk about your being authentic.

Perhaps, you would just want to ask why would people want authenticity in you? You mean why would people prefer no-frills and no fancies, when they want to know about the real you? The reason is clear, a person is subconsciously going to buy from another person, who he trusts and likes. If you do not give people a chance to know you and like you, they are definitely not going to see you in reality. Many of us want to say, “I vant to be out alone,” like the mysterious Garbo but it does not always work that way in business. Once you show people that you are real living breathing human being like they are, you are going to create a bond between them and you. That is the reason why they are going to click upon the links posted on your blogs. They are also going to respond to any messages posted by you.

So alright, this means that I have to show that I am real, I am authentic, and this is the way in which I can make people get to know me. But how do I go about doing exactly that? Just imagine that Twitter is a party where you just walked in without an invitation. Your job is to make friends and influence people. You listen to some conversations and join in them, after introducing yourself politely. Add your own witty bon mots to the conversation and make them laugh, cry, think, and generally leave a good impression behind. This is exactly what you are going to do on twitter. People who are really interested in you can be contacted personally by just contacting them with an @ sign before their username. Once you have a complete network, you can start telling them about your product, your business and services.

Self-promotion comes only after you have promoted someone successfully on Twitter. It is going to take some time before you see some really good results coming in on Twitter, but once the traffic starts, you are going to see profitable sales, and the sort of traffic you want, through twitter. So what stops you from jumping on the Twitter bandwagon and twitting right away?

Everything Your Need To Know About Test Marketing and Social Media Optimization

What on earth is test marketing and social media optimization?

Social media or social media optimization is the utilization of the information which is gathered from social communities for marketing purposes.

Social media optimization uses different tools which include RSS feeds/blogging, blogs, twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, MySpace etc. the idea is the incorporation of a third-party application to such social media websites. You must have heard of search engine optimization when people go in for keyword searches for particular keywords. In the same way, expert social media optimization is going to drive traffic present on social bookmarking communities and sites to your particular website, instead of having them come to your website through a search engine search.

Websites pertaining to the social media have expanded exponentially during the past couple of years. Every single website is using different methods of networking, and each website has different traffic audiences visiting them. They might have diverse interests or similar interests. That is the reason why many business groups are looking at this new idea of using social media optimization, to get positive and profitable results. This can be seen in the case of Twitter.

Twitter has begun to grow more popular, because it uses a new and innovative way of blogging called micro-blogging. The idea is to expand this form of social networking through this interesting social media form. You are going to micro-blog through twitters, post links, pictures, and other information upon your blog. You are going to invite other people to comment upon your services and products. This immediate response can be a good way to get up-to-date information really quickly.

And just why is this so important, you might ask.

An immediate product feedback is going to be very important, especially when you are branding a new company. This is going to be the basis of your future business reputation and marketing strategies. Up-to-date feedback can be considered to be an important an integral part of creating a reputation online. That is the reason why, using social media optimization and social book marketing is considered to be one of the most important strategies in the testing of a business reputation. This is naturally very important for individuals or business who want to create a presence online, yet cannot pay for focus groups and  market surveys.

Taking the use of a social community to get immediate feedback, tips and more links is one of the ways to make your product more acceptable to the public. This naturally means increased profits in the future.

An individual or a company can use different Twitter services like Tweepbeep and even Tweetscan, where they can find out how many times their product has been mentioned in Tweets. This can give them an approximate estimate on how to go about their marketing strategy, as well as give them proper feedback, to which they can respond appropriately on Twitter.

This is also good opportunity for the CEO of a company to get in touch with his clients, so that he knows exactly what they feel about his services and products.

This example can be seen very clearly in the case of Kmart. If Kmart had gone on to such social media websites, they would not have been the joke they are today, with their market standing not very creditable. That is the reason why, a number of farseeing companies are keeping a careful E upon the needs and wants of the consumer. You would want to do the same if you want to be really successful.

What On Earth Is Twitter?

One has heard the word “twitter“, especially in conjunction with the chirping of birds, but people twittering on Twitter is a new idea for a majority of people.

You may have seen many ads on TV, requesting you to “Tweet Us.” And you might be afraid of asking people about “what are these guys talking about, tweet us,’ because you do not want to be labeled totally “uncool.” I was also under the assumption that if I asked anybody what twittering and getting to know more about the social media was all about, I would be laughed at or given a stare of, “man, get a life.”  The moment I got over the fear of this ridicule, I managed to get some answers. And here are the answers that you want to know, about Twitter.

Come on get on with it, what on earth is twittering, twitter, Tweeting and every sort of tweet word combination, got to do with TV advertisements, you might ask.

A website like Twitter allows you to do micro-blogging. Micro blogging can be considered to be blogging in its mini form. You are going to text small amounts of content, and the moment they go online, they can be reviewed by everybody or by people who belong to just one particular social group.

These little messages are known as Tweets. You can submit them upon twitter through e-mail, SMS messages, instant messaging, or just through the web. If you want to communicate with just one person, you are going to send the message to him by putting a symbol @ before his username. You can also do a little talking with other group members. Once you join Twitter you can send direct messages to people of your group through the Twitter interface.

You can either follow or be a friend of Tweeple (Twitter + people!) through the twitter interface. This allows you to Receive Tweets, twits or even Twitters, call these messages with whatever name you prefer. Following or adding a friend to your network is just as if you have added a friend on MSN or Facebook.

Why is Twitter getting to be so popular, you may ask. Well, people who share similar dislikes and likes can get to know exactly what you are on about. You are going to express your sentiments in less than 140 characters. Self-expression gone micromini is the name of the game. So from single comments to rants and from boring descriptions of day-to-day activities to talking about newsworthy items and events, you can twit about almost anything.

Some Tweets are focused upon making money, by posting links to blogs and websites. The idea is to make people look at sales coupons, blog entries, events, and other happenings. Businesspeople can take advantage of this target market, which is interested in one particular product.

Twitter has many uses. Ask advice, talk about a cause, give somebody some help, promote your services and products, and even promote the awareness of some major event. All you need to do is twitter on Twitter in small emotional bursts. So when are we going to see you on Twitter?

Watch Out for Twitter Fakes

It’s a neat feeling.  A big name in your industry is following you!  You just received the notice that the one and only “John Doe” is on your list of followers.  You must be doing something right, huh?

Well, hopefully you are.  But that doesn’t mean that “John Doe” is really following you.  There are scores of scammers out there building profiles and Twitter URLs using famous and easily recognizable names.

They follow you, hoping you’ll follow them in return.  That gives them the chance to pitch their links to you.  It’s a pretty inelegant form of spamming (and it’s hard to think that it would every really work), but there’s a lot of it going around.

Others pick up celebrity names or recognizable industry monickers for the sake of playing games or making fun of the person whose identity they snag.

If Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie start following you, don’t expect to get invited to serve as a witness at their next adoption.  You’re more than likely dealing with an impostor.

Sometimes, this can be harmless.  In other cases, it can be a real aggravation.  The people who are “losing” their names certainly can’t like it.

Although it probably won’t change the nature of your Twitter experience materially, you should be aware that there are Twitter fakes out there!

The Death of the Auto-DM on Twitter

The automatic direct message was one of the earlier Twitter add-ons.  It’s turned into one of the most hated.  Today, only those who are really “out of the loop” are still sending automated direct messages to people.

The most common application for the messages was to say “thank your for following me”.  That seems pretty innocent, right?  Well, it was.  And then it became a way for people to say “thank you for following me and check out this link while you’re at it”.  Suddenly, the DM had crossed the border into spam country.

Meanwhile, active Twitter users started to get doubly annoyed by their prevalence.  Not only were many of them pleas for a link-click, they were starting to really clog up the DM mailbox.

Today, they’re considered hopelessly out of style.  If you’ve been thinking about making an auto-DM part of your Twitter game plan, think again.

Do a little homework first, you’ll soon discover that their more hated than just about anything else in the entire world of social networking.

Twitter: Be Sure You Can See the Difference

Are you really driving traffic to any of your sites via Twitter?  If you’re a hardened Internet marketer or experienced online expert, you know the answer to that question.  If you’re a little new to the online world, however, you might not be that sure.

You need more than a simple counter on your blog or website to see if Twitter is really bringing you any visitors.  In order to assess the traffic value of your involvement, you need to have a good stat tracking service in place.

If you’re paying for hosting, you should already have a halfway decent way of tracking that information.  Logging in and accessing those logs and stats, however, can be a little “klunky”.  The best solution is probably Google Analytics.

You can sign up for Google Analytics for free and it’s easy to install the necessary tracking code on your site or blog.  After you do, it will be easy to see who’s visiting your site and whether they’re coming from Twitter, search engines or other referrals.

You don’t want to assume that Twitter is getting you traffic.  You want to know for sure.  Make sure you have a tool in place to help you do just that.

The Real Key to Twitter: Using Twitter

“I’m not seeing any real results from Twitter.”

“I’m on Twitter, but I’m not really making any of these connections people are always talking about.”

“I signed up for Twitter, but I only have a handful of followers.  It doesn’t seem very worthwhile.”

You’ll occasionally hear complaints like those and they often have one thing in common.  The person making them failed to get a grip on the real key to Twitter.  Using it.

Nothing happens by itself.  That’s definitely true for Twitter.  If you want to see results, make connections and build an army of followers you’re going to need to actually log in and use the service more than once in a blue moon.

Do you need to sit in front of Twitter all day?  Of course not.  Should you be logging in and getting at least a little involved once or twice per day?  Absolutely.

Only through use can you produce outcomes.  That’s the real key making Twitter work for you.

The next time you hear someone with a less-than-favorable review of Twitter, find out how often he or she actually uses it.  You’ll usually discover that they don’t use it much, if at all.

Finding the Right People to Follow: An Interesting Strategy

There are multiple search utilities for Twitter and some, like Twellow, do their best to serve as a Twitter yellow pages, sorting members by industry and interests.  None of them, however, are perfect.

That can make finding some of the best people in your field to follow a little harder than it should be.  Here’s a tip if you’re looking for some great followers:  Check the blogs and other websites.

Many people are taking it upon themselves to assemble and publish lists of leaders in different fields and their Twitter URLs, making it easy for interspersed parties to follow them.

With a little Googling, you can probably find a list of “10 must-follows” or “25 people to follow” in your particular niche.  It’s a great shortcut to making the best possible connections.

Eventually, we’ll have some better complete directory of Twitter users, perhaps.  Until then, we’re left with imperfect tools and the efforts of others.  Between the two of them, we can get the job done.

If you want to follow the big shots in your discipline, open up another browser window and stop searching for some lists of those folks you really should be following.

Twitter as a Reminder Service

Twitter is micro-blogging.  Twitter is social networking.

Twitter is a reminder service?

Why not?  Here’s the scoop, a budding genius came up with a Twitter tool known as ReTweetMe.

It’s not really a tool, it’s a Twitter profile that you can follow from your account.  If you want a reminder sent your way via Twitter, you just send ReTweetMe an “@” message.

You let ReTweetMe know when to send you a reminder an what the reminder should say.  For instance, “@ReTweetMe at 7 am tomorrow; make coffee”, would result in you receiving a message at 7 telling you to get the java brewing.

I think it’s a handy little tool for those of who can use all the reminders we can get.

It’s also illustrative of what’s making Twitter so great.  People are coming up with innovative ways to use the service.  It’s one reason why it looks like Twitter is “built to last”, these little extras are making it a part of more people’s lives and adding a great deal of utility to the service.
